Dean at P.O.W.

With his playful spirit and knack of feeding an insatiable audience, Dean Cherny has been seducing crowds from every corner of the globe for more than 15 years – from the packed beaches of Barcelona to the lush hill-tops of Bali, the thundering clubs of Ibiza to the frenetic shores of Mykonos.

Back in his beloved hometown of Melbourne, he is a stalwart in the House scene commanding the dancefloors of our most notorious events – whether that means steering the 20,000 strong force of Summa Daze revellers, or containing the heat at ultra-sexy private parties and launches, including album releases for both Kylie and Dannii Minogue.

Sharing the decks with some of the industry giants – like Frankie Knuckles, Jeremy Healy, DJ Sneak, Boy George, Deep Dish and Basement Jaxx, Dean has played his part in engineering some of the biggest listed events on the scene, including Gatecrasher, Red Raw, Two Tribes, Slinky and for the past three years Respect is Burning supporting Dimitri From Paris, Roger Sanchez and Derek Carter.

And where music meets fashion, Dean Cherny is at the centre. As music director for both Melbourne and Sydney fashion weeks, he works closely with the country’s top stylists to light up the runway and put the kick into the catwalk with handpicked tunes that leave the toughest crowds electrified and aching for more.

Dean is influencing a subtle shift in the minds of the masses too – with exclusive rights over the music flooding into the stores of over 1,000 fashion retailers nationally. In fact, his enterprise Marketing Melodies is thriving after 11 years without serious rival from competition. And with a long-standing weekly spot on KISS90FM, Dean’s show ‘Morning Glory’ earned him a cult following and a strong position in the affection of Melbourne’s more discerning musical judges.

More recently, Dean has been focusing on various projects. He recently formed Dirty Laundry with long time friends JJ Styles and Seany B. They form the nucleus of this ‘house music machine’ - comprised of two DJ’s (Dean & JJ), MC Seany B and various vocalists and musicians. They have just had their first single ‘Nuttin’ But A Party’ added to Melbourne: The Sex, The City, The Music. Dean is also currently putting the finishing touches to a new single to be released with Madison Avenue's Cheyne Coates. In the past Dean has worked with Melbourne musician, Kevlar, together they have produced various remixes, including a recent remix of the Soul Providers' track "Try My Love" on Bush/Boo Records.

Dean's CD compilations include:- 'Redhead: A Decade of Dance', the Large CD, 'Sticky Flavours' and two volumes of 'Circulate: The Best Club Tracks Going Round'.
